A pilot first photographed these geoglyphs in Southern California in 1932. At more than 100 feet long the site is best viewed from the air or a short ladder to see the scale of the art.
This geographic area along the Colorado River is the only region in North America with geoglyphs similar to the ones in South America and Australia. There’s about 200 known sites and at this particular location there's three human figures, two animal figures, and a spiral.
Although an exact age for the figures isn’t known they’re estimated to be from a few hundred to a couple thousand years old with no local tribe claiming to have created them.
